During the 1970’s I lived for the trill of centerboard yacht racing on Wellington Harbour and to this day I still think - ‘there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats’ as Ratty said in Wind in the Willows.
These Waka (canoe) pieces represent my love of sailing and all things marine. They also represent voyaging, homesickness and the wonderful people and experiences I encounter on my travels which helps ease the homesickness.
Surface designs are inspired by the flora and fauna of NZ’s coastal environments as well as the Maori culture I grew up surrounded by.
