‘Latitudes’

When I moved from Whangarei NZ to Asheville NC in 2015 I was amazed to find that they are both on pretty much same latitude. 35.6 degrees South and 35.7degrees North. Quite a coincidence. However the landscape and climate are totally different. I traded sub-tropical oceans and temperate rain forest where 50F was cold, for mountains and rivers where I had to make friends with snow! As much as I miss my family and my lemon tree the mountains around Asheville feel as home to me as I felt in Whangarei, it is the people that make you feel like you are home.
